TKN UK prices?
Have any of you gone to the The Kilted Nation web site and noticed they charge you $30 for shorter lengths. You can just order them from UK what ever length you want at no charge.
I went to there site to check to see if they had my size UK was out.
I am not paying $30 when they are getting them from UK what ever length you want then charging you more...what a rip off. I'll just wait till UK has my size.

TKN only orders the 23" length for stock. You could get them to bring in a different length, but it would be a special order and you'd have to wait several weeks.
If you want it quickly then you get to pay for hemming.
And UK is starting to do this now, too. If they don't have your length you can pay $30 to get one shortened.

Exactly, $30 is the standard price that UK charges for "chopping" or shortening an already made kilt. Think of it like the charge for expedited service that some of our sponsoring kilt makers have. If you are in no rush, you can wait for UK to get it back in stock in your size, but if you're jonesing bad relief is $30 dollars away.

Jake

I hadn't realized that TKN was only stocking a single length. Unless I wore a 23" length I would order from UK too. (TKN's sizing instructions simply suggesting ordering one size up from you pants size, is woefully inadequate as well.) Ah well.
dpseadvr, if your UK is one of the 100 percent cotton models, like the Workman, you might want to try shrinking it some in the washer/dryer.

Jake

I just got another original in olive, I think the difference between a 32 and a 33 should shrink up thanks I'll wash it in hot and dry it that should do the trick.
i never thought I would like them (UK's) until I got one just to try it out I wear it more than almost all my other kilts. So I had to get another one, may try workman for working on the Jeep and around the yard.

On the Denim and Workman, I've been told 1/2 inch to an inch, but your mileage may vary. I'm not sure you'd get any shrinkage out of an Original as is a cotton poly blend.

Jake

I've got 15 UKs and since I wear a short I'd guess about half a dozen of them have been chopped from longer ones to avoid having to wait longer. Worth it to me. Waited three months for my first UK back in the slow days. Seems being able to walk into a retail store and take a kilt home right then, or after being chopped, would be worth not waiting.
Just my opinion.
Shrinkage of my UKs has been due to my eating.....
