    I always wear a belt with my kilts ( dont have a formal waist coat ) I think a good belt goes a long ways to making a kilt look good. You dont need a belt with a fancy buckle or anything for it to look nice either, any wide belt looks better than no belt at all IMO.

    Buzz Kidder makes a heavy casual belt that works great:



    It also shows the sporran hangers here, but I rarely use them. This is probably the belt I wear most often when dressing casually.

    I'm pretty sure you can get them through the Scottish Tartans Museum and probably other places as well.

    It's the same width as a standard kilt belt, about 2 1/4". It's also a bit heavier, sort of like a work belt.
