I Am Looking for a Proper Commando Sweater

Back to the Army Navy Surplus I went not too long ago and bought myself an army commando sweater. I think these close-fitting sweaters with the shoulder and elbow patches look great with the kilt. BUT, it has a crew neck and not a V-neck. I still intend to keep the crew neck, but I'd like to get a V-neck version so that I can wear a collared shirt and tie under it. Well, I'm not having any luck finding one anywhere. The only V-neck commando sweater I can find on the 'net are police sweaters, but I don't want the badge patch. Can anyone help?

Do you know anyone with a knitting machine?
As long as they can find the right yarn you can make just about anything. A pattern for the fabric patches can be taken off the one you have, as well as a rough guide for sizing and shaping.

Though I don't think that the original military design comes in a vee neck version, I have only seen civillian ones.

I have one I bought that the moths have made merry with, so I must salvage the patches from it and knit new bits for them. In something mothproofed.

I have the LL Bean Commando and it's great. Problem is that by this time of year they're sold out in the most popular sizes and colors. Check the website and se what's available. Acrylic commando sweaters were going for $29 at my local surplus joint (new) and the Beans were like $39 for wool...no contest.
