SWK Kilt socks
Does anyone know if it is safe to machine wash/dry the stillwater kilts wool-blend socks without shrinking them?

Basically if it has wool in it, heat is the enemy. machine wash cold, on the shortest , gentlest cycle, then give them an extra spin cycle to get most of the water out. don't put them in the dryer! just hang them up or lay them out on a towel. they will dry in a day or so.

I machine wash and dry mine in the dryer all the time. No shrinkage that I've noticed.

Hm, I wash mine on cold and hang dry, like I try to do everything with wool. I dried one of a pair by mistake and it is noticeably shorter now...

Yeah, cold wash and don't use the dryer. I have a lovely pair of black kilt socks that are just smashing with my saffron kilt that I can no longer fit it because I forgot to tell my mom they were wool .

Yup, I have some really long thumbless mittons too. Now I tend to wash my own wool sox in wool-lite in the sink and hang in the shower. Just like she used to do with her nylons...... Oh, how the tables have turned...

I accidentally tossed a pair of my freshly machined washed kilt hose in the dryer and was pleasently surprised that they came out fine. I probably won't do it again, however, unless I have to for time sake.
