If those are the actual colors, I'm not sure I'm all that interested.
That has some bright almost neon greens, purples and blues.
It certainly is not as blended and subtle as the IOS I've seen.
What I like about IOS is the soft, subtle colors. That is garish, if those are the actual colors.
I agree with them

You know, when we've done some catalog photography in the past, we had to include either an 18 per cent neutral grey card or a Kodak color and density chart in the periphery of the shot. This was the reference and if, for example, the neutral grey looked a bit too magenta, then the viewer knew that the whole photo had a magenta cast and could compensate for it.
In this internet age when "your monitor may vary", it'd be nice to see the neutral grey swatch in some of these photos. A frame of reference would be nice.
I did mention in another thread that I thought that acrylic fabrics tended to take color a bit more "dramatically" than wool or PV. If that photo is accurate, it tends to support that contention. I would, however, mention that certain dyes photograph differently than they look to the human eye. Once upon a time I was shooting a catalog spread of towels for a large retailer (okay...it was Sears) and we had a helluva time getting all of the colors to balance out. Turns out that some of the dyes reacted to ultraviolet light differently and we had to correct for that. That could be the case with the photo of the FC IOS.

Well if that is the true colour all I can say is I'm glad I went for the wool from Lochcarron, here is a close up of my 16oz wool Isle of Skye for comparison purposes:

Modest digital camera – Nikon Coolpix L11 – set at “Museum” (no flash) setting.
The colors are not as garish live (although they are still bold and "distinct" - non blended) and yes wool does blend and show better.
They are just rough initial pics.
Maybe not jump too early and too hard?
I’ve seen pics around the web of “genuine” IoS that to my eyes appear not to show it to its best advantage.

Ron,
interesting looking kilt pin.
Could you tell me more about it?
Just curious

I would agree with you 100%. Not just on this tartan, but most any acrylic tartan in general. I can almost always tell an acrylic kilt from a distance simply from the colors. They tend to be much more bright and garish than the corresponding tartan in wool.
I don't know if that is a function of the acrylic per se, because I'm sure I've seen some acrylic yarns and other goods in more soft, muted tones. Maybe it's just a dye choice made by the mills who produce the bulk of acrylic tartans.

My apologies. Perhaps I had a little too much Burns party in me when I wrote in on this subject and was not my usual diplomatic self. Indeed - the green shirt and Douglas Modern kilt I posted earlier this week look a lot better together to me in person than they do in the photo.
Regards,
Rex.

No my apologies – it was a late night for me also.
Having now seen the kilt in daylight I think I’ll dub it the “Bright Skye”. Aurora borealis.
Perhaps best worn in candlelight or campfire light

Well.....I guess the good news is there doesn't appear to be much of a copyright violation...don't think anyone would mistake that for the Isle of Skye tartan at a highland games...
Terry, the kilt pin was a gift from my lady. She lives down on the Hopi reservation and commissioned an artist to make it. Its a bear design..she thinks I'm bear like...she also had a Thunderbird kilt pin made by the same artist. I love 'em. Silver of course.
