I wore the Lidl Black Watch kilt at the Burns Night on Friday, it was an informal event.
I was greatly pleased with this kilt, it certainly gave a feeling of wearing a good kilt, its weight and swing was equal to wearing my Houstons of Paisley expensive kilt.
I am always a little reluctant to wear my best kilt at anything but formal events so I think this new kilt will be used fairly frequently at this summer's pipe band and highland gatherings starting in May at the Scottish Pipe Band Championship in Dumbarton

Very cool! It seems to be the trend these days that supermarkets are slowly incorporating general merchandise, probably with the intent to draw some business from places like Wal-Mart. For a forgetful impulse buyer like me, that's not always a bad thing. I'd be a little surprised if the WM started carrying kilts, though, particularly around here (Kentucky). We have a somewhat large population of people from Celtic backgrounds, but we also have a lot of people who probably wouldn't "get" the kilt, were they to see one there. Actually, I'd be afraid they might put the rack in the wrong department.

I managed to get a kilt from Lidl , I have bought several casual kilts from Ebay , but this beats them hands down , it is the heavist kilt I have the pleats are excelent and unlike most casual kilts it has three straps. I wore it to church this morning and several people have complimented me , it is a mac kenzie tartan.
I think the comments by the kilt makers in edinburgh are just sour grapes , I have a kilt not as good as the lidl one made of similer material and it has lasted three years with out any problems. I also have two light wait kilts , black watch and royal stewart they are very cumfirtibile to wear but the material frays very easy unlike the heavy material in the lidl kilt
I have heard they are getting them back in march 17 if so I am going to buy a couple more.
I wear kilt at least several day's most weeks, and always to any event I go to.
unfortunatly as much as I would love to I cant and dont have £300+ for the real thing.
I prefer casual kilts as you can bung them in the washing machine rather than exspence of dry cleaning,
Robert

When I was in Dumfries I took the opportunity to pop into the Lidl store there and asked how many kilts they had had to sell in the first place.
I was informed it was around 60-70 so multiplying that by the number of Lidl stores adds up to an impressive number!

The positive comments appear trustworthy.
Anyone want to offer these kilts to the USA?
