Congratulations on the first self constructed kilt! and from Boston, Massachusetts. My first kilt is a black 12 oz denim. Took me about two weeks of evenings to construct. Then i bought Barbara Tewksbury's Art of Kilt Making book. (Posts here as Barb T) great instructions and pointed out ALL my mistakes for me. Fortunately most people around here are kilt illiterates and can't spot the minor flaws. I still wear the homemade kilt proudly! 8 yards of 13 oz denim kilt vs 2 yards of 10 oz denim jeans in real cold weather. Kilt wins every time.
