Garter Colors - What would you pick?

Okay rabble, I'd like to toss a question out there to you all.
I'm in the queue for a Matt Newsome box pleated kilt in the Modern Mackay sett/colors.
In the next couple of months I'll be purchasing some new kilt hose & traditional garter ties (aprox. 3 pairs of hose).

The hose colors I'm considering are:
Bottle Green / Navy / Black / Bison / Grey / & Charcoal (see examples below).

Though I have some ideas already, I'd like to gather the opinions of the rabble as to the garter colors you would match up to the afore mentioned hose colors?

Below is a picture of the garter colors avaliable & the descrition of the colors themselves.

    left to right:
black, charcoal, grey, ecru (white), bottle green, loden, lovat green, claret, brick, tartan (modern) red, ancient red (orange), purple, navy blue, St. Andrews blue, ancient blue, brown, and bison

Oh! I should mention (if it makes a difference) I usually wear a solid black colored shirt or earthy brown wool sweater (black is my color, even in summer).

    Thanks.

If your "modern" Makay is like I'm thinking, then I would go with shades of blue.

    Thanks Jay
The tartan in question looks like this:

though the blue in it isn't so bright as pictured above (it's more of a navy).
    Sorry I didn't post a sample before.

    Any other thoughts folks?

I think if I were wearing a black shirt, I would go with the black hose and bottle green garters. With the sweater, I would change that to a hose color that matched it with the St. Andrew's blue garters.

Thanks James. I had been wondering if St. Andrew's blue was too "bright"?
I do like the color however.
Perhaps with the Bison hose (it's a tannish/oatmeal color).
Not sure how the brown hose would match the sweater

Another hose color I like is Bottle Green.

I'd consider Lovet green hose and ancient blue garter myself - weather hues of the kilt.

My pending Newsome is a MacLachlan Ancient and on Matt's recommendation I'm going ancient blue Lewis hose with ancient red garters. Though I hope the ancient red is not as orange as it appears in your pic.
    MacLachlan ancient:

Now isn't the celebration of getting a Newsome box pleat reason enough to purchase all of the above mentioned garters. I know those that have worn these are forever sworn off of flashes.

Interesting. I never thought about that color combination. Thanks Grant!

I'm sure Matt wouldn't steer you wrong
As matter of fact my hose color choices are courtesy of Mr. Newsome.
I'm still waiting to see if he'll give me some garter color recommendations (hint, hint)

Grant the Ancient garters are somewhat orange here are my Ancient red and my Tartan red garters against the Graham of Mantieth tartan

As for garter ties for the Modern Mackay I would say lovat green or blue would work well in garters and the same colour for hose, also I find that the tartan red garters work well even with tartans that do not have red in them.

    Thanks!
I was wondering about the red.

I should have clarified what I was saying was that with the lovat blue hose I would wear the lovat green flashes and vice-versa.
