Louts always tend to self incriminate so it is best to ignore. As for universities in Canada, they are far from being open to liberal thinking. I don't give to one alma matter now because of their bigotry.

    davim19,
good on ya for takin' the high road.

I'm neither Celtic- American nor direct european ancestry but I dislike intolerance no matter who its directed at. Perhaps the reactions of these two idjits had more to do with the kilt specifically and less about the fact that you were proudly displaying your culture/ ancestry? I really think that had you been of european descent and wore any cultural garment that included pants, you would not have had those reactions. Sounds to me like you activated their homophobia/ kilt ignorance side more than anything else.

Either way, you handled yourself with dignity.

Isn't it sad that you have to alter your behavior because of someone elses inabiltiy to keep from looking up your kilt? You'd be doing nothing wrong being regimental, however is someone invades your privacy and looks, you are the one that will be wrong. Go figure.

There is a similar stairway at TGI Friday's in Castle St, Edinburgh and I can assure you that they cause no problem.

Equality and diversity? I thought that's why the old highlanders carried two pistols.

A few years back I read about a U.S. university - can't remember which one - which had all the usual "diversity" student groups on campus: African-American, Latino, Gay/Lesbian, etc., which is great. However, when a bunch of students attempted to organize a "Celtic Student Union", their efforts were disallowed by the university in question. "Diversity" only goes so far in today's academic mind-set...!

Friendly Reminder from the Mod Squad

Perhaps we can steer back toward Davim19's original post. Though still friendly, things are sliding toward more politically oriented path.

    Thanks All
