Great photos & I love that old bus!
We have a similar bus here in my town. Was brought over many moons ago. The story I'm told was it was going to be used for sight seeing tours, but was instead parked in a vacant lot in the historic district, where its been ever since. It's now a fish & chip stand.

Great pictures Alex. The old bus reminded me of the Alexander's ones I used to get to school and it was always a rammy trying to get out of those seats at your stop.

I remember them also, It was murder late at night when the drunks were going home & they fell asleep at the end of the bench you to had to climb over them to get off the bus. Happy days

I like the idea of getting the ferries to those exotic places.

Yes the trip over to Millport is a wee bonus when visiting Largs. There is a bus that takes you from the ferry into Millport although I don't know if I would describe it as exactly "exotic".

For me Phil with my limited experience of Scottish islands (Mull and Iona) all new island places are exotic!

My paternal grandparents went to Rothesay every year and used to stay in the hotel where Lena Zaveroni grew up,

I've never been to Rothesay but I believe it is a shadow of its heyday when your grandparents went there. Everyone jets off abroad nowadays. Actually if you drive down the Clyde coast from Glasgow to Gourock you can carch a ferry there to Dunoon then come back and on to Wemyss Bay to catch a ferry to Rothesay then back and on to Largs for another ferry over to Cumbrae. After that on to Ardrossan for a ferry to Arran and when you come back on to Troon and take the ferry to Larne. All those ferry trips within a few miles drive of each other - but not all in one day of course. I think my favourite ferry trip was from Oban to Mull. It docks at Craignure and a bus meets you there for the trip to Tobermory unless you take your transport with you to explore the island and take a trip to Iona.
