But only as an interested observer. The queen attends Presbyterian church when at Balmoral (Crathie) but has no role or influence in its organisation. An awful lot of people died to make sure of that. But to get back on subject, there was no religious motive behind the Glencoe massacre, more setting an example by the King's man in Scotland, Stair, to "encourage the others" as they used to say when shooting their own men in the 1914-18 war. The Campbells would have been chosen as reliable King's men but it was the fact that it was "hamesucken" - attacking your hosts while enjoying their hospitality - that blackened the name of the Campbells.
Back off subject again, I don't believe the McGregors were as notorious cattle thieves as the Border clans, Scotts, Bells, Armstrongs, Douglas's etc.. They got so bad they were exported to Ireland to clean up there.

Off the main topic, as I already stated the reason for the animosity, you forget the MacFarlane' as cattle theives... they don't call a full moon "MacFarlanes Lantern" for nothing.

Now, if I remember correctly, the Miller's are a sept of the MacFarlanes....which, if that's right, would probably make my father's clan "guilty by association".
Though I'm pretty sure my dad hasn't nicked (ie: stolen) any cattle lately! ;)
hehehehe
