@ Phil:
thank you. I will check your kiltmaker and hope to fly to UK in early spring to do my shopping

Their address is Stewart Christie & Co., 63 Queen Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4NA and telephone number is +44 (0)131 225 6639 - I assume you dial 44 for UK numbers.
This firm I can also recommend as being a little cheaper and do the complete range including shoes.
Nicolson Highland Wear, 189 Canongate, Edinburgh, EH8 8BN
Tel: +44(0)131 556 4763
There is also this firm which one of our members, Hamish, always strongly recommends. I have no opinion one way or the other but they are a reputable firm.
Geoffrey (Tailor) Highland Crafts Ltd, 57/59 High St, Edinburgh, EH1 1SR
Tel: +44(0)131 557 0256
Failing these go to this website - http://www.thephonebook.bt.com/publi...index.publisha
select "Business Type" enter Kilts in the box and Edinburgh in the Location box, click on Search and you will see all the businesses.
I don't have any axe to grind but I am prepared to pay a little more to get the best. Whatever you do please do not go to any of the "tartan tat" shops such as "Heritage of Scotland" or "Pride of Scotland" which are sprouting up all around Princes Street and the Royal Mile. You really would be far better hiring an outfit than wasting your money in such places.
