How is Fuengirola now they've finished the promenade?
First time I've been there, it was a much nicer place than I expected.

    Great shots as always!

Do you use a tripod for the self photos?

Occasionally, yes, but more often than not I do not carry the tripod with me and the camera is placed on a flat surface for the self portraits.

What hotel did you stay in when you were there? I stayed once in El Puerto and it was terrible. A lot of people swore by the Hotel Angela although it was closed when I was there and other people described it as "God's waiting room" because it was full of elderly people. The Yaramar looked good though.

Well you've mastered the way to do it.

I use one of ..these.. and really find it useful.

I stayed in the Confortel which is a new four star hotel opened in 2005. It is directly in front of Los Boliches railway station and only a one minute walk from the train, just a few blocks further out from town than the Yaramar. The accommodation was luxurious, and there was a good choice of food in the first floor restaurant, where I had breakfast. It is a fourteen storey hotel and I had an en suite room on the seventh floor, with a balcony with a sea view. There was a quiet ambience about the place, and most of the other guests whom I saw at breakfast were elderly. I had my evening meals in a very nice seafood restaurant on the shore almost directly opposite the hotel. The flight to Malaga last Thursday morning was packed full of boisterous stag and hen groups, but I can only assume they all went off to a different resort once they reached Malaga Airport.

Sounds good, definitely an improvement on some of the Franco era hotels there. I take it you just took the train from Malaga airport to Fuengirola.
I would think Torremolinos might be the destination of choice for the lager-swillers on your flight. There aren't so many "British" pubs in Fuengirola.

Room with a view - this was my view from the balcony. The romanesque structure on the promenade is to advertise for the Roman baths which are nearby. The fish restaurant which I mentioned is just off camera to the right.
Yes I took the train direct between Malaga Airport and Los Boliches station, which also stops at Torremolinos on the way.

Nice view. I remember that structure. The last couple of times I went to Estepona but I enjoyed Fuengirola, especially at this time of year. The only downside was the timeshare touts but they wouldn't bother you if you were on your own.
