Can't help it. I'm 1/4 German, 1/4 Irish- and a redhead to boot! Sorry to relight the fuse. I didn't even realize.
    Nighthawk,

If you see that you are trying to stir things up, I have a simple request, DON'T. There are so many really interesting discussions that we the Mods are forced to end because someone couldn't show a little restraint.

Has it occurred to you that maybe even the Mods would like to be able to expand on what we can talk about here on XMTS? But then when an interesting thread has people swinging a hammer where a scapel should be applied we just have to sigh and closed down another thread.

I realize you were making a joke and this isn't just directed at you. There are a lot of people here at XMTS who like Rex offer intelligent, polite, and thoughtful posts. Sadly there are also those who lack of restraint and/or courtesy at times. They are the reason we have to have so many rules to keep this a family friendly place.

    Just something to think about.

    Cheers

    Jamie

Yes sir, I am very well aware of that. That's why I laughed at myself a little. I DIDN'T realize that what I said might be interpreted as stirring things back up. That's why I made the second post. I was trying to say that I hadn't meant to get things stirred back up. If it's seen that I was doing it on purpose, then I apologize.

If I don't feel like addressing criticism, no matter what kind, by a stranger, I find a glazed look in my eyes, and a line of drool off my chin generally ends the conversation. If not, asking if they like Star Wars in a loud tone of voice does the trick...

All I know is that Nighthawk is a chupacabra.

    Or is that the scape-chupacabra...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Look it up in your Funk & Wagnalls, LOL!

    NIGHTHAWK, CHUPACABRA:...

    * I'll just clear up the joke. Funk & Waggnals is an encyclopaedia (really a publisher), Nighthawk is a bird known as a goatsucker (nightjar), and chupacabra translates to goat sucker. That's why I wrote "scape-chupracabra" ... play on scapegoat.

His pants were on too tight.

If I have time, I sometimes lead the folks who want to come up and preach their version of religion to me in circles. Having been a preacher at one point in my life, I have the knowledge to do it. More often than not, however, I like to hum a certain Ozzy Osborne tune as I walk away. The walking away part usually gets them to leave me alone. Only a few times have I ever had to actually start singing the lyrics:

    "Tell me I'm a sinner
    I've got news for you
I spoke to god this morning
    and he don't like you"

One of those times the person had actually tried to involve my kilt in the conversation. I had been waiting at the bus stop. I got the last of those lines out as the bus pulled up. I boarded the bus, and when I had got to my seat I looked out the window and he was still standing there a little slack jawed.

Of course, there's a down side to that little anecdote as well. Now, any time I hear of someone trying to use religion to attack someone else's behavior, especially something completely innocent like kilt wearing, the song gets stuck in my head for about a week.
