Unfortunately mine was rubbish.I got Diane a new hard drive for her laptop, a bunch of flowers that came in a fancy teacup and saucer and a basket full of chocolate. (I thought it would be a few bars, it will actually last her about a year.)
I have been really, really sick the last few days. I took the day off work to rest but my neighbour played loud techno music all day so that I couldn't sleep.
Because of the time difference I didn't get to talk to Diane until about 5.30 am my time on the 15th.
We were both so exhausted and stressed out that we ended up arguing.

On the good side, I got to sleep all day today and I am feeling a little bit better. Diane and I have made things up and I am still very much in love with her.
 And everything will be O.K.

The family went out to a Waffle House for dinner. This particular WH has a Valentines Day (VD) tradition of decorating the restaurant, mood lighting, staff in shirt and ties, candlelight at the tables, and even requires reservations. They quadruple their normal business. Two local TV stations sent news crews to cover the event.
I had a lovely repast of biscuits and gravy, hash browns scattered, smothered, and topped (onions, cheese, and chili) and a side of bacon. My lovely bride had a pecan waffle and a veggie omelet. Decaf for both of us. My son had two chocolate chip waffles, while my daughter had toast (white bread, no less) a plain waffle, and a strip of my bacon. The two we'uns split a warm apple fritter.

Back at home we had a heart-shaped, fancily decorated carrot cake and tw-bite brownies awaiting us.

Romantic eh? Oh, and I gave wifey a 65-inch string of pearls. Given my past record on VD, she was astonished.

My girlfriend is still in high school, with 4 AP classes, so she has a lot of homework. We're going to get together on Saturday and exchange gifts, and on Monday we might be going to Disneyland (gotta get our money's worth out of those passes!).

My partner and I treated ourselves to an afternoon at a local spa. Worked wonders for my arthritis, and for....we woke up with a smile....
EPITAPH: Decades from now, no one will know what my bank balance looked like, it won't matter to anyone what kind of car I drove, nor will anyone care what sort of house I lived in. But the world will be a different place, because I did something so mind bafflingly eccentric that my ruins have become a tourist attraction.

I spent the evening (which started for me at noon) preparing a "Sweethearts" meal for our Lodge's Sweetheart Dinner. Each year we host the Lodge widows (who we call our sweethearts.) We had prime rib, smashed spuds, mixed veggies, gravy, rolls, Shrimp coctail, carrot cake, etc etc.
We had many, many good comments on the food, so I guess I screwed up again

We had 82 in attendance, and the hardest part is getting the food to the dinners while it's hot, but we have a full kitchen at the Lodge, and it's not the first time so we're getting pretty good at it.

I wore a USA kilt is Scottish National, and everyone is used to me by now, so no comments at all, which is they way I like it. The good thing about the USA synthetic fabric is the grees stains come right out in the wash.

I got my first kilt on Wednesday, just in time for Valentine's Day.
It was a great Valentine's Day. I came home from work and made dinner for my wife. My wife made brownies earlier in the day, and we just hung out.

It was our 15th Valentine's Day together; the best one yet!

Fabulous Valentine's Day...also, coincidently my wedding anniversary. I bought a new scooter (to me) today, received my previously ordered MacQuarrie tartan necktie and clan crest Sgian Dubh and enjoyed Alaskan King Crab with my wife at a nice restaurant.
 Fine day, indeed!
