Thanks for the feedback, especially appreciate the Photoshopping work of Pipesndrumsnun for the "artist's rendition." Since it was only $4 I might go swing by there again later to pick up and see what I can do with it. But if it's gone already I certainly won't be too disappointed either!
And hey, kilted leprechaun would be the perfect look for the Irish Festival, right?

I would buy it. With the right buttons, epaulettes and accessories it could be quite smart. Perhaps a third button above the other two. From the photo it looks as if the sleeves might be a bit short. Perhaps there is enough material in the hems to let them out another inch or so.
Girlfriends may come and go, but a good jacket will last a lifetime.

That's what I was thinking, the color and cut just might work with some tweaking. I thought of King Brian the minute I saw the pic. Heck, you might even find some "Stray Cats" ticket stubs in the pocket.

She's right even if she's wrong, so get used to it.
It looks like a dress uniform jacket for the Czechoslavakian National Guard or some other East European place.
Keep looking at places like Sportsmans Guide for foreign Ike jackets. They're cheap, and they look great with a kilt.

Agreed. An Ike Jacket. Although some doublets are double breasted. But, this isn't a doublet.
Other options, search eBay and hope something nice comes up.
Go to USA Kilts. Rocky has a good selection and the best prices I've seen in the States for Kilt Jackets.

Its not quite 80er as the men's tight jeans are still lower rise hip-huggers (some even re-labeled) . What's, however, tried to make a "come-back" this season in women's fashion has been high rise pants and short jackets. Leggings were sold a few years ago as 80's fashion (alongside overized sweaters) but the look did not really catch other than the leggings themselves as footless tights (worn in a very non 80s manner). This winter "leg warmers" were quite evident in the shops but in contrast to the 80's look were not scrunched down and more resembled hose-tops (especially in tights and overkness Argyle and diced patterns where in abundance this year) than "flash dance" or "I just came back from a workout" look.
It would not be long before waist length jacket come back.
It never really "went". Waist length jackets have been and continue to be the standard for women's fashion (often paired with skirts based upon the kilt). Among "designer" wear (where there is a lot of unisex crossover) there has never been a time when there were not a number of short jackets being marketed for men. The look, after all, is a male look that, alongside tights (panty hose) and even some colours and patterns been incorporated into women's fashion and subsequently abandoned (at least for a while) by the men's fashion mainstream.
