Wee Silver Kilties - Tartan Paint Anyone?

I only visited the Model Rail show for one day (Friday) this year - weathered Mckenzie outside an opera house shaped like an armadillo and located at a harbour - we can only be in Glasgow or Sydney!

I bought this set of two kilted pipers and two kilted highland dancers, in 1/76 scale - they stand just an inch high - too small for a sharply focussed close up. They are cast in white metal and very well made, but unfortunately unpainted so I may have a difficult job painting the kilts to appear tartan!

Maybe you could paint the base color and then use a fine-point Sharpie, Rapidograph, or other fine-point permanent marker to suggest a tartan pattern.

    You have such fun toys.

Cessna....There is a way to make decals on your computer and just apply them to the proper place. There is a special paper available to do this. Just print and apply. Only problem is I have no idea where to get the stuff.

My mom has an artist friend who uses cat whiskers (she gets them after the cat has naturally shedded them!) to paint very fine lines & details. If you need a supply of kitty whiskers, I can supply them for you!

P.S. When I was still married, we had one of our guest rooms set up for my ex's train board. He did "N-Scale" and had a pretty decent set up going! Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it on my computer.
