    MacMillan Dress!

I was asked for a picture or two showing the MacMillan Dress tartan. The computer generated images do not do the tartan justice.

Thanks much! Releived to see the colors are a bit muted and not like out of a crayon box.

Guessing the kilt is pleated to the sett....?

    Yes it is.

I was truly amazed by the tartan after seeing the representations in the books..."horse blanket" came to mind, but you really need either to see it in person, or see a decent picture. I can say that these pictures are pretty close, but do not convey the richness and warmth of this tartan.

    That's a great looking tartan.

The piece of Burns Check over the podium reminds me of the old addage "When you buy a Chevy, you see them every where." I placed my order with Matt today for a boxpleated kilt in the Burns Check, and now I see this.

    DRAT! The Secret Is Out!

Dress MacMillan tartan is like a fine, peaty, single malt. Because you haven't seen it down at the corner store you are apt to give it a miss. As old tartans go, it is one of those rare and handsome setts that looks horrible in the tartan books, and because there isn't much of it to look at in a swatch book, it rarely seen. BUT, boy does it look great when it is made up into a kilt. These are probably the best photos I've seen of the tartan, and like FEDGUNNER says, they don't really do it justice. The only problem I can see with the photos is that now EVERYBODY will want a kilt in Dress MacMillan...

Looking closely at the photos I recognize the Community of the Tonsured Servant badge, and what looks like either St. Stephen of Tuscany or the Templars worn on a cravat, but I can't identify the second neck badge. If you don't mind telling, what is it?

Every time I see the thread title I think "Dress! That ain't a dress it's a kilt!"

    Nice colors though, very autumnal.
