Strange, in some parts of Scotland we are still using tin cans connected with a piece of string. We don't have television (again, a Scottish invention) nor have we heard of Coca Cola. Believe me, we still get asked this when we travel.

I recall us getting our first telephone growing up in England. I was about 8 (I'm 42 now). I recall there being a 5 digit number which shows just how few phones the were in Britain at the time...
