Welcome to Xmarks! I've never worked with scaled down fabric but Woodsheal's post above looks like it might meet your specifications.

Hello again folks, and wow...thanks for that lovely welcome!!!!
Well folks,..we all know how much yardage goes into making a full size kilt,..and mine are no different i'm afraid.
When i say i make "true to sclae uniforms" i mean thay are made just a the real thing only in 1:6 scale.
So, the fabric would need to be at least 5 or 6 inches in depth, and about 20 inches in length, so i need yards of the stuff.
You see, my figures are made using real leather for belts, metal sporran cantles, real hair sporrans, and even the bonnets are made by using real ostrich feathers, so the fabric need to be just right.
That ribbon looks spot on, but i am wondering if it would be the right material, as some ribbon can be quite shiney.
However,...i really do appreciate all your help.
By the way where do i post pics?....do i post them in this thread?
    Neil.

Yes McClef, they certainly did...and while it wasn't a bad rendition for 1970 toy manufacture, the tartan is more like the Sutherland tartan, (well it was the Argyll and Sutherland uniform i suppose)
But the uniforms i make are in the same scale as Action man and Gi Joe.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Yes McFarkus, i have a few of Black watch soldier in No2 Dress (ish)....and a Pipe Major in full highland dress.
However, these were made quite a while ago, and all my gear has been updated, so you will have to use your imagination i'm afraid until i get some more recent pics posted.
Here is the first one i made, everything is made from scratch including the bagpipes.

...and here is the No2 Dress soldier and piper.

Sorry for so many photos, but i hope it gives an idea of what i make.
    Thanks for having a look.
    Neil.
