Good point! You actually don't have to have a copyright filed. You can just have a notice on the bottom of the page and in the source file as a comment in the head. See our team's site (link in my sig). There is a notice at the bottom of every page and in the source.

That reminds me of back when I used to do a bit of poetry writing, everybody was mailing a copy of their work to themselves, so they would get a postage date stamp... That's been a while back, though.

I am telling myself that it is rather knit picking even as I type, but the first photo - much as I like the idea of men showing off their legs - it is perhaps not the best first impression of the site?
Perhaps something a bit more solemn would be a better choice for that position, and move that image further into the site.

You only get one chance to make a first impression - obviously - and personally I'd like - Oh - maybe the same four gents holding up full glasses with a caption of a greeting and congratulatory nature, or standing each side of a flower bedecked entrance to a festive hall - or holding some item appertaining to the ceremony or associated with the usual festivities - something that will give that first page what I believe is called a 'hook' in advertising terms.

Personally I had no trouble with the colour or contrast, but my colour perception is excellent and this is a high quality monitor.

Very interesting that you've been able to fill such a specialized niche of the wedding industry.

Weddings are a significant portion of my piping income. In 2007, I performed at 68 of them. Of these, only three or four had a Celtic theme. And those were limited mostly to nothing more than kilted bridegroom & groomsmen, and me.

Your website indicates you're located in Colorado, so perhaps the market differs significantly from mine in the Mid-South.

Also - just being in existence makes an original website copyrighted. There is no requirement to have a copyright notice. It may help in keeping honest folks honest - I do have one on my website. And a coupla people per year steal from my website. www.Copyscape.com has been helpful in that regard.

My attorney told me the instant anything is made into a reproducible form, (written down, saved as a file, posted on a website, or doodled onto a cocktail napkin), it becomes copyrighted under the law. Enforcement of it can get sticky though.

 Slainte yall,
 steve

Ya, I don't really understand how web sites work, but they would probably be a lot easier to prove the date of creation on than a scribbled paper item... Ehh, it's all good.
And Pleater, I thought all the image codes at the opening were quite lovely. I didn't see any men's legs... Although my screen reader usually doesn't tell me about that.

And JS- you are quite correct. We have a large Celtic/Gaelic population here, as well as a large pagan population. And in truth, I have two weddings that are out of state that I'm doing! One couple in California is actually flying my wife and I to them, paying our lodging and my fee in June! We're doing all the gifts and centerpieces (which is why my other half is going- to help me set up) and we're helping them with kilt rentals/purchases- the whole darned package. And I am doing one in Phoenix in a month. That one is not anywhere near as extravegant- it's just me doing the ceremony. They have everything else taken care of. I was really surprised, after having posted the ad a week ago, at the response. We have two caterers, 4 pipers, 3 photographers, and one cake maker who approached us wanting to network. I was very amazed.

So- thanks for the all the suggestions. They are good ones.My partner is the one handling the website, and I will be emailing her all of your good ideas.
