    Te he he he!

Ok, here is exactly what I did. I went to the place in the gallery where that picture is. There is an option to view the original picture. I clicked on that. Somewhere it should be showing you the address of that page. It's a little different for me because I can have my screen reader find out the address for me. Then I copied that address, http stuff and all, to my clipboard. I came back here and pasted the address in a post, then typed the IMG codes around it. I usually type in all the codes because it's faster than trying to find the option.

The only thing is that the one picture I uploaded from my computer does not have a "jpg" tag at the end. This picture was uploaded to the gallery from someone's photobucket who has the picture there for me. I don't know what that picture address will do until I try it.

And it's "Mrs. Marmalade," Ron, then you may look...

Ok, I was able to creat an album and copy my three pictures over to it. That was fairly easy. I haven't figured out a way to upload pictures directly to that album. It looks like I can only upload to one of the four catagories. If that's the case, it's fine, but I'm guessing they might need to add more catagories in the future.

One note: there is a public or private option when creating the albam. The private album I created didn't let me open it or something like that. I couldn't tell what was going on, but I deleted it because I couldn't use it.

Also, I haven't found a list of all the albums that have been created: just my own. Unless I'm the only one right now with an album. I have no way of knowing...

    * I just got through uploading a couple of pictures, they were of me not in a kilt, then I deleted them. Everything worked fine. I tried an experiment. I put one of these pictures in my album, then deleted the picture. It was deleted from the album at the same time. I thought that might be a way to get a picture in the album without posting it to one of the catagories, but the album just seems to be a thumbnail link to the picture.

I deleted the pictures as quickly as possible because they were not kilt related, but in the "Me and My Kilt" catagory.

As a non-techie I am totally confused by all to do with this new photo gallery. Yes, I am prepared to be patient and wait for things to be ironed out, but I do not understand things like photo re-sizing - it was previously done for me by Photobucket when putting my photos there but it seems that my Photobucket-stored images are still too large for the X Marks gallery.

Do I understand this correctly? Are we to be able to have our own Photo Albums here. Clicking on any of the alphabet letters just seems to bring up a mix of photos by everyone whose name begins with that letter.

I will be fair to Hank, Mike and the other Mods and will wait but, at the moment, I do not think this new gallery is going to suit me and it could be that I will not be posting photos here in future.

    Take care,
    Ham.

Hamish, I don't know if this will help you, but I am trying to learn how to use the new gallery and post what I am learning here.

I have not had any problem uploading pictures from photobucket, but all my pictures were under 500K which seems to be some kind of maximum limmit.

I only see my own album when I click on the album option. I don't know if anyone else has made an album yet.

I'm going to keep fooling with it. This is the only practical way for me to upload pictures, so I will keep working with it. I only have three kilt pictures though.

    Everyone,

I do hope that all of you can find it in yourselves to give Mike and Hank a bit of time to sort things out. I realize that this is a new process and that change can be awkward.

I think that ultimately our new Gallery will be a wonderful component of X Marks the Scot. There are times when one doesn't wish to wade through multiple posts to find a picture. I know how much the photographs of Hamish, pdcorlis, Matt Newsome, and others assisted me in learning about kilted dress and developing my own personal style.

Our goal as staff is simple, to make XMTS the very best forum we can. To that end we try to add features both for you users and on the technical behind the scenes to better this place.

    Your patience is appreciated

    Cheers

    Jamie

CHANGE! ?????? Get out the torches & pitchforks! Man the lifeboats! Women & rubber chickens first!
(No, that's not right, where was I? Was I anywhere? Maybe I need a nap! Did I say that out loud?)
    Never mind!

    Rubber Chickens are always first...

...first to be thrown into the cold cold sea to float helplessly until the dark waters pull them down deep deep below...
