Happy Feastday, Pipesanddrumsnun!
This year, also due to Holy Week, the Solemnity of St. Joseph is being observed tomorrow (Saturday). He is the patron saint and namesake of Sister Heidi's congregation, so I am sure that they will be celebrating at least a little.
So here's to you, Pipesanddrumnun and to all your Sisters around the world!

Nap? Is that the St. Joseph's Day tradition? Sounds like a good one...I have my first "gig" as a bass drummer tonight, I will play extra exuberantly for you, PDN!

THANKS, everyone!!
We get to celebrate TWICE this year (shhh! don't tell anyone!). The nuns in the area got together on Sunday and some of us are getting together tomorrow (March 19th, Joe's traditional Feast Day), as well.
AND, St. Joseph the Worker is May 1st...three celebrations for us this year!
For our local St. Joseph's Day celebration, I requested (I'm always the planner of the bunch...there's that administration degree at work...tee-hee!) that everyone try to wear red in honor of Joseph...this is an Italian and Polish custom, and though I am neither Italian nor Polish (Scottish and Irish spoken here!), I think it is a great tradition...if Patrick gets his green, Joe gets his red! We have been honoring the "red" tradition since I was a novice in Connecticut. SO, this year I wore a Black Stewart kilt, black hose, black shoes, Black Stewart flashes, red turtle neck, and black sweater vest.
Hey, Moosedog...congrats on your first gig! I can really appreciate your role as bass drummer...on Sunday morning, I bass drummed for the Palm Sunday procession at Church, and boy was my back killing me afterward!! I hadn't strapped a drum on since last summer's parade season...guess I'm way out of shape!

Red for St. Joseph??!! I never heard of this tradition. Now I've got to find something red to wear, though maybe under my Lenten purple.

I'm late to this thread, but it's a good read. Red for Saint Joseph....works for me!
