I hope that Grant isn't still attached to his when that happens!

Do I understand this correctly? Are we to be able to have our own Photo Albums here. Clicking on any of the alphabet letters just seems to bring up a mix of photos by everyone whose name begins with that letter.
I will be fair to Hank, Mike and the other Mods and will wait but, at the moment, I do not think this new gallery is going to suit me and it could be that I will not be posting photos here in future.
Take care,
Ham.
Ham,
I wouldn't worry about it. If I read this right you'll still be able to go along just as before using Photobucket or whomever to host pics and then place links to them in a thread. The only difference I assume is that for whatever reason I cannot fathom the Show Us Your Pics thread is closed. I for one do not go perusing through people's galleries. I much prefer pictures within threads.

You didn't know Dee? I wonder how much Moderatorial discussion actually took place on this!
I think that many would go along with your preference. The galleries are doubtless a useful addition to X Marks but as a total replacement we will have to see if they achieve their intended aim.

Trefor, please understand that Glen, Bradley and I are specialty staff members - not moderators. That is a title I think I'd prefer to forego as it's a LOT of work for not a lot of thanks. We just blow trumpets, eye maps and check dinner menu's.
As far as a gallery goes, it's something that folks around here have been asking for since before I joined the forum. It takes quite a bit to set one up but it doesn't neccessarily mean that we have to not embed pics in posts anymore. It should be an enhancement. Just takes a bit of time to get set up. While at the office I have the luxury of having 5 environments that stretch from Development to Production supported by staffs in 4 datacenters XMarks does not have that advantage. That means that sometimes some of the "ugly" backend work has to get done right in view of everyone. That'll cause some bumps occaisionaly.
cheers

I am the first to admit that I am not a techno wizard, far from it in fact.I am also not trying to cause mischief and recognize that the "powers that be" need to update things from time to time, but will it be possible to view the old photographs that have been published in the now defunct "show us your pictures" section? Or, are they lost to us?

I guess so.
I'm sure there's a good (maybe technical) reason for it, but what is the point of shutting down a forum for discussing photos?
Regards,
Rex.
Anyway, whatever happens, thank you for this incredible kilted photo !
warm regards

The picture threads are still there. You simply need to go to the "Display Options" at the bottom of the screen and select the box labeled "From The" and change "Last Day" to something greater, such as "Last Year".
