I think Scottish pies are like French fries, in the meaning that they are just meat pies in Scotland, and French fries are just fried potatoes in France.

Are there any "American" foods in other countries?

I once had flapjacks in Honduras, and the waitress called them American pies.....

Of course, you mean Belgium where "French" fries are thought to have originated?

I remember ordering a scotch pie in Edinburgh (no, it wasn't at a Gold bros shop and the part was not from the middle east).

My 7 year old son asked me just the other day if they call it Chinese food in China or if they just call it food.

I know we don't call it Canadian bacon, we call it back bacon and I know what we call murky water Budweiser calls it "beer".

You have to love all the different definitions and experiences.

In Australia, Meat Pies and also Pasties are regular lunch fare. (Not to be confused with U.S. 'Pot Pies').
Usually, beef; beef & Mushroom, beef & tomato etc. Chicken occasionally.

More vegetables in Pasties. All are great with Tomato Sauce.

Pies always hot; Pasties can be either hot or cold.

All are delicious! I really miss 'em.

Are you a veggie Dee? or just not a back bacon fan? My wife is a semi veg in that she doesn't do red meat, but loves poultry and seafood.

No, I'm definitely a meat eater but I'm picky about food textures and back bacon doesn't do it for me. Now what WE call Canadian bacon (little flat round circles of ham) I love.

See that's what I am talking about. I can't do strip bacon anymore. A nice back bacon (sorry, Canadian bacon) or some Aryn shire bacon and I am good to go for a full brekky

I've always just called it a Scotch pie, myself. Just luck Scotch eggs.
Oh, how I miss Scotch pies. They're the best.
