    It's been a very long time since I read "The Longest Day" (1956) by Cornelius Ryan. I know he went to great lengths in interviewing participants from all sides, but I can't recall what he wrote about Millin.

    And then I had a "doh!" moment later on...

    Didn't Ryan also co-write the script for the film "The Longest Day"?
    At anyrate, since the film is based on his book then the character of Millin in the film would've been dressed as portrayed in his reasearch...much like the June 5th picture that Todd posted.
