I've got just the place. O'Neille's old high school ski sock shop. I just found them the other day from my xcountry skiing days 30 years ago. PM me and I'll send them to you.

Hey, if its for the inexpensive kilt run down to your local sporting goods store and get a pair of $8 soccer sox and see how they look.

I think SportKilt also sells soccer sox as kilt hose and has red as an option if you don't have a local sporting goods store.

But it's kind of weird sitting around sucking the wine out of your socks!

If its a fancy or hand sewn kilt you just can't lose with the red Lewis kilt hose from STM. Yes, the initial outlay is more, but the long term value is better than any other kilt hose investment. I didn't buy the ten (or more?) pair I already own because I wanted to spend extra money. I bought them be cause they fit better (they're shaped like regular sox, not just a tube) and they wash up easily. I hand wash so can't speak to the machine wash claim.

Here's my red Lewis kilt hose with my Cameron Black and Red hand sewn from Kathy Lare.

Guess my suggestion is that you find a way to look at a pair before you decide they're too expensive.

    Hi

You could try W. Brewin & Company
    http://stores.channeladvisor.com/wbsocks/Kilt%20Hose/

I have bought from them several times. Good rebates if you order 10 socks at one time.

Sorry to bother you Larry. Kindly recall that the problem is mainly finding Red hose, not comparisons of $150 hand knits vs dollar store socks.

The Lewis Hose at the STM are a great value for the money, I am slowly replacing my kilt hose wardrobe with them. Once you try them you will become a Lewis Hose Junkie too. I get a lot of use out of my red Lewis Hose.

They can be machine washed, I wash mine on the delicate cycle in the washer and let them air dry.
