Good job, SB!
I've been in Victoria's Secret with my wife on several occasions. The secret is to stay away from the front entrance. Once in the depths of the store, you will relax a bit (and the employees will have a chance to compliment you...at least that's what happened to me a few weeks back )
Kilted Teacher and Wilderness Ranger and proud member of Clan Donald, USA
Happy patron of Jack of the Wood Celtic Pub and Highland Brewery in beautiful, walkable, and very kilt-friendly Asheville, NC.

Congratulations. glad that you were "kilted amongst the living today."
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Congratulations. It gets easier each time you wear a kilt in public. I've worn a kilt as my daily attire since August of 2005. It's really a non-issue. I take pride in my appearance, but have no concerns about what people might think. You will find that overall it's a positive experience.

Be prepared for post feedback. Folks who know you may see you but you don't see them. They may comment when they see you next.

I think you hit the nail on the head with "I guess what helped me was acting like I do it every day and not looking to see what other people's reactions were."
thats a very true thing from all the kilted day's I've had. Congrats and welcome to a new daily freedom!

That's a very interesting thought! I'm kind of looking forward to that, especially as I've almost convinced two friends to buy their first kilts. I'm sure not all the feedback I get is going to be positive, but if I wasn't a big boy I wouldn't have put a kilt on in the first place

Thanks for the support Casey - I'm sure that advice about acting kind of nonchalantly has been given elsewhere, I just wish I'd thought it and acted on it long before now!

Good first run for sure SportBilly.
My first run was at the local (rural hick town) True Value. Of course I had to run into my CEO who laughed so hard he doubled over so his nose was bouncing off his knee as he laughed.
And, you ain't the only kiltie in WalMart...too bad we can't all go in at once.
In the cat food aisle in my UK vegan white Workman's
While shopping in the clothing department, "Excuse me, where are the men's kilts?"
At check out. "Did you find everything?" "No, I couldn't find any men's kilts."
Yes yes yes....I know we don't want kilts sold at WalMart...just fun to ask and respond that way...create awareness...

Thanks Ron! Funny you mention the Wal Mart thing - there were three assistants in the women's clothing section (trouble's always in threes, isn't it? lol) who were gossiping and enjoying little sniggers in my direction each time my wife and I passed. On our way to the checkout, one of them said 'I like your kilt' in a smart-alec kind of way. My reply was 'You should do, I bought it here' and walked away. Hopefully that's confused them a little!
