Geoffrey (Tailor) and 21st Century kilts are the same. Though the latter is their more "contemporary" line, as the name would indicate.
So, really, you've given two choices, and both are very reputable, indeed. You wouldn't go wrong either way.

I own a kilt and a kilt suit from 21st Century Kilts, with a third kilt on order. I'm very happy with both the quality of the products and the service, and can wholeheartedly recommend them. As JerseyLawyer says, 21st Century Kilts and Geoffrey (Tailor) are one and the same, so expect the same high standard.

					The kilt suits in question:

No, I don't wear a kilt to court, but that's because, well, I work for the government, and it would be frowned on, I suspect.

As for Houston Kiltmakers, I don't know. They're a very traditional maker, and I've only heard good things, but I don't own one of their kilts. I would say the difference of an ounce won't make much in the finished product.

I got a full PC rig from Geoffrey tailor a number of years ago, The kilt is ancient dress gordon which was woven to order. I was pleased with the PC jacket and accessories although i found the gillie brogues a bit narrow.
I have not been overly pleased with the mactufacture of the kilt. I did put on a bit weight and found the material stretched badly. This was compounded by the fact the leather waist strap was only sewn through the tartan and not the lining, which would have made it stronger. In addition the stitching in the pleats at the back has teased meaning it is visible (slightly) and wolud be a lot worse in the tartan were darker (the stitching is white).

While some of you might not be sympathetic to the circumstances of the kilt being stretched I also have a Hector Russel kilt which was made for me in 1989. This is a narrower kilt (l was a lot slimmer then) however I wore this a lot when I was bigger too. The build is much more robust and there was no teasing of the stitching. Although the material did stretch a little, nowhere near to the same extent the straps were also a lot more secure.

I would not in the circumstances reccomend a kilt from Geoffrey tailor. i will be looking for a new kilt shortly and will look at Hector Russell as well as some others.
