Sigh
We have had zero snow here on the South Coast of England - not had any since the children were small enough to enjoy it, now they have degrees and need to go places so snow would not be welcome, but I miss it. I made snow sculptures - dinosaurs, in front of the house.
We have had some really cold days and lots of rain - last Friday I only went out to transfer a repair from my car to the owner - I do knitting and sewing machine repairs - and I was wet through and chilled to the bone.
Serves me right for going out wearing all cotton - several thin layers, but I've changed into my Summer stuff, and there is no warmth in it when it gets wet.
I huddled inside a couple of yards of wool fabric whilst drinking some tea, so no harm done. The wool got wet, but that doesn't really matter, it wasn't cold. I warmed up and then went to change into dry clothes - which is perhaps the wrong way round in a more organised household, but when things are scattered around like they are here then it is better to search out a new outfit when warm rather than trail around getting even colder.
I doubt that we'll be having hosepipe bans this year - the amount of rain this year must have already broken records.
I presume to dictate to no man what he shall eat or drink or wherewithal he shall be clothed."
