My absolute favorite piping question was at a summer camp one time.... I noticed a girl standing nearby with an "I-have-a-question-for-you" look on her face. When I finished the tune, she came up, put her hand on the bag, and said "I've got a question. Are those real bagpipes?"

Possible answers should the question arise again:


“Actually I’m an accordion player and this is my accordion, this is all a clever disguise as I‘m working undercover. It’s all very hush-hush, need-to-know basis sort of thing. ”


"No, they are fake, but so cleverly designed that they are completely indistinguishable from real bagpipes."


“Bagpipes? Bagpipes! The man at the shop told me this was a hurdy-gurdy!“


"No Miss, they are a hallucination and so am I. By the by, the Cheshire Cat send his regards"

I doubt it will come up again - that's the only time in nearly 10 years of playing - but I love these!

The one I get the most is "Are you a Wallace (or MacGregor)?"

I have a Gunn and a Blackwatch... Neither of those look like a Braveheart kilt.
