I also have a black Alphakilt. Very well made, and made to your measurements for a very good price. Lifetime resizing included.

I'm in love with my nightstalker kilt from Stillwater Kilts. It's almost all black, but it's still traditional looking.

Stillwater Kilts has several other types of black kilts, too. It might be worth checking out. Their products are very high quality and arrive in great time. I only wish their standard line was heavier, like real wool. But their standards are still perfect for Spring here in TN.

If you're wearing it with leather to the bars... I would go for the UK workman. It's a bit more expensive, but it feels much tougher than the mocker. I wear the mocker with a tie or a nice sweater, but the workman I can wear with more interesting apparel.

I second the motion from a couple of posts above about SWK.

I ordered, and just received, a black "shadow tartan" kilt in their heavyweight wool. Now, it's no tank, but I ordered it (and you state that you want) a casual wear kilt.

I couldn't suggest this kilt more. It looks great! It is jet black, so it matches my t-shirts, dress shirts, and even my Celtic jersey (GO HOOPS!). The kicker is this; when the light hits it, the "tartan" pattern comes out. It isn't a different color, it a weaving pattern, so the light reflects off of it differently, in a general plaid pattern.

Bottom line = It is wicked awesome!

    Wicked...now there's a word I like to hear!

I do have an SWK Black Watch standard, which I like. I'll take a closer look at the heavyweights. Thanks!

Easier? Then let's throw a black hemp kilt into the mix... Or how about the ultimate, a black leather kilt? Both availiable from RKilts.

Or for the price a black shadow from SWK. Wool ,stunning shadow effect, and traditional styling.

Believe me, RKilt's black leather is on my wish list for Christmas...as is a Swedish tartan box pleat that I want Matt Newsome to do, a Tewksbury in "Adams," a double-pleated something by Robert Lady Chrystel, and on and on and on...when will this madness stop????

In the meantime, a simple little black number...maybe the SWK or an Alpha kilt...the list is narrowing down...
