As long as your boots match your other leather accessories, I don't see a problem. After all, it is casual wear.
Like many others here, I'm a Doc Martens guy. I own three different styles of Docs, all in black, and I've worn them all with my kilts.

I wear those same 5.11 boots in your photo. They're comfortable enough for a 24 hour EMS shift, so a day of loafing is not an issue. I do push my hose down when wearing boots. Particularly because I'm short and tall boots with tall socks just don't look right on me.

I have a pair of Flax 6 Oakleys that look pretty good, but I don't think they're as comfortable as they should be and I just purchased a pair of Harley Davidson Crankshaft 8" with Steel Toe, but haven't worn them yet...I'm sure they will require a break in period as well.
