I live here in Sanford NC and I am the only person, I believe that wears a kilt, and my sons too. I go to Raleigh, NC and see someone in a UK and AK sometimes. They do hold a Kilt Night in at Tir Na Nog in Raleigh and I think I am going to check the Ren Fair this weekend. The funny thing is how many Scottish clans settled in Sanford and everyone there looks at me like I stepped off of a spaceship. All I can say is, "I have FREEDOM from Trouser Tyranny!!!"

Even though there are hundreds, if not thousands of us wearing the kilt it's just a drop in the bucket. We have millions of people living in this area and most people have never seen anyone wearing a kilt casually.
For some reason we have a real problem getting kilt nights together too. We're all too busy, and traffic is so bad it's hard to make a go of it. Tomorrow's kilt night in San Diego might be lucky to have four of us show up, and that will be a great turn out.
Indeed.
My main problem is that I have no means of transportation other than my own two wee feet.
Although, the dean told me that he got a SportKilt once to go to a party a Scottish friend of his was throwing.

Coemgen, check your PM's.
D3m0n9, you're in Sanford? Do you know Mervin Headen? He was a good friend of mine when I lived there. Lived in Pittsboro I think, not too far.

While I know know that I'm not the only one in San Antonio who enjoys wearing a kilt I don't hang/go out with any other kilt wearers. Right now I'm just the "crazy guy" in the family who wears a kilt to family functions.

MD,
Texas is a big state, I believe there are three or four of you in San Antonio, and I show a total of 45 kilted rabble listed for the state, but I do sympathize about being out there alone...Half of me wishes for the company of other fellow kilties and the other half enjoys the limited brotherhood that wearing a kilt provides.

There's a few other people at my school who have kilts, but never really wear them. Plus, they're in the Sci-Fi/fantasy group, which isn't really my thing, so we don't interact much.
The closest kilties I get to hang around are in my pipe band, which means an hour-and-a-half drive to Milwaukee. Otherwise, I'm pretty much by myself here in Beloit.

I live in the northern suburbs of Atlanta, in a little place called Dunwoody, and I strongly suspect that I'm the only true kiltie in Dunwoody (aside from my father, but he doesn't wear his that much). Even though I live in Atlanta, I've only seen one random kiltie (aside from myself and my best friend) in my entire life... and I could tell that this guy didn't wear the kilt often, too- he looked very uncomfortable and was wearing all sorts of fancy evening acoutrements, even though he was just buming around campus in a t-shirt. That said, I do have two good friends that live relatively close, who go kilted pretty often.
I still have no idea how you folks can get a bunch of fellows together for kilt nights, but it must be pretty cool.

Ryan,
There are several kilties in your area. Keep an eye out because they have regular kilt nights.

Yeah, I know they're out there, I just never seem to cross paths with them. It should happen, one of these days. Thanks for the heads up though, brother. I might have to see what I can do to join in on these kilt nights.

Ron, as far as I know, I am the only full time kilt wearer in this part of North Carolina. But there is a very active Scottish Heritage Society in New Bern, so we get close to 40 at kilt nights, of which 10 - 15 are kilted guys. So I guess I get the best of both worlds.
