I'd just like to say one more thing. The title of this thread is "Should you feel insulted" and simply put the answer is NO.

When I was in Scotland, it was nice not to have to spell or pronounce my own friggin' last name for others, which I have to on occasion in my own country.

I loved that about being in the british isles. It was really nice to not be asked "so, that Sean with an e or Shawn with an sh?" or "Campbell... is is that p-b-e-l-l?"

Just this afternoon I was telling my daughter-in-law that Mary and I are thinking about going down to the Gatlinburg Scottish Festival & Games.
She said 'are you going to wear one of your little skirts',and I said of course, what fun would it be in pants.
She really did'nt mean anything by her comment. She just likes teasing me by calling them skirts.
By the way I gave her this web addy and if she sees this, Well...:butt:

Man, I know how that feels, it gets really annoying, but you had to deal with it. And then they mispronounce it saying "Seen"...

I like some of the answers you guys have shared...I'll have to share them with my dh later ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Our last excursion with anyone was saying anything was at Micheal's (I was getting art supplies) and both my dh and our youngest were kilted. A little girl did asked her mom very loudly why they were wearing skirts. Boy, did the mom look embarrassed. She told her daughter that people from other places dress differently and this was the case. (I don't know if she didn't know to call it a kilt, but we were headed opposite by the time she started answering.)
