I'm not a huge fan of Koontz, but as seen in my other thread, I'm a big King fan. I'm currently reading The Stand for the first time. It's taken me a good 30 some-odd chapters, but SK has finally "got me hooked" on this one.

I usually don't read much. (Can't sit still long enough)
    But, I liked:
    "Orbit" by John Nance
The "Brother Cadfael" series by Ellis Peters (Pargeter)
    Mark Keeney

    I just finished reading
How the Scots Invented the Modern World: The True Story of How Western Europe's Poorest Nation Created Our World and Everything in It
    by Arthur Herman

It was a good book, I quite enjoyed it, and have already passed it off to my brother.

As was Ender's Game. The only 2 scifi books to make it on the list and just about the only two books on the list that I bothered to read. I too am an avid reader when I get the chance and own close to a thousand SF and Fantasy novels. There are so many good books and authors already listed here that the only one I feel the need to add is The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. On a selfish note, It's a pity he died before completing it.

Most of my favorites have already been listed, but one trilogy is missing.

If you want a "different" read where the main character is an anti-hero try:
"The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant The Unbeliever" by Stephen R. Donaldson.
