SWK nightstalker...great nun kilt! :)
In the midst of preparing for thesis defense and oral comprehensive exams (hence my absence of late!), my sister called to ask if I could deliver lunch for my bro-in-law's birthday today (she is a surgical nurse and can't leave work). She wanted a singing telegram, as well, but could not find a reputable one in Flint. SO, I ended up quickly learning "Happy Birthday" on my smallpipes and became a "piping telegram" (she just called last night, and the birthday was today!).
This was my first "paying gig", as my sister bought lunch for Sister Joan and me.
I wore a SWK Nightstalker kilt, ghillie brogues, black hose, SWK nightstalker flashes, white dress shirt, black tie, black waist coat (my J.Higgins one that I found at the Salvation Army!) and argyle (a home modification by one of our church ladies), and black glengarry.
My bro-in-law is an IT guy at a local school, so I was hidden in an office and he was paged to come fix a computer in said office...that's when he got a smallpipe (figured my GHB would be far too loud for school!) serenade replete with kilted splendor. Gee, how many other guys get two nuns delivering lunch and playing bagpipes? This is probably a birthday he will not forget!
AND...I've decided this would make a great uniform for a nun pipe and drum band!
P.S. YES! It was a bit windy today!

Hey, that sounds great, Pipesndrumsnun! Didn't know you were a Nightstalker wearer too. Your whole outfit sounds great, and that's a great story!
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Terrific job, Sister. You look great!

Careful there Sis; once the Bishop finds out he now has a professional Piper, who'll play for food, he might start renting you out for Celtic Masses - and you'll gain 100 lbs.
I can see it now;
"Featuring for today's Mass; The No Nunsense Pipers".
What a great Birthday gift!

Sister,
The kit looks great on you. This should become the new habit.

Actually Pipesndrumsnun, I'm glad you described how you put the outfit together. It gives me a little hope for putting my own Nightstalker outfit together. Thanks!
