    Thanks Barb,

Them's the pics that got me hooked on this tartan in the first place....not just hooked...I swallowed the hook....deep....beautiful tartan, meaningful, conversation starter....trying not to jones...trying not to jones...

The wool for my Macdonald of Kingsburgh hand sewn was woven by Dalgliesh too. Really quality work.

They weave beautiful tartan, that's for sure! I'd rather make a kilt from a Dalgliesh tartan than from any other mill. Their custom 16 oz weaves are just a dream to sew on!

Are they double or single width at that GBP 39 price. I seem to remember that special weaves by Dalgliesh are single width.

And, from the sounds of it, this isn't a "custom weave." It seems from her wording that that Daglish supplies their stock tartan.

Love the Antartic, it seems to really stand out in a crowd of tartans. So, does double width mean that if you purchase 4 yards you have enough for an 8 yard tank? Or is my thinking skewed? Blueprints I can read, sewing patterns make my brain hurt.

Yes, 4 yards double wide will make an 8 yard kilt.

Yes, modulo your hip size: check with your kiltmaker or The Art of Kiltmaking.

Hey, you're in luck. There are no patterns for kilts!

Yeah, er, ahem. that does present certain diffucilties, but at least you don't have to read a pattern.

Dalgliesh weaves most of their tartans in double width. The only tartans they weave single width are the custom single kilt length. If you wanted a custom weave and were willing to buy a minimum of 30 yards, they would weave it double width for you. So, when they weave for an vendor such as the Antarctic Heritage Trust, they do it double width.
