    Love the Antartic, it seems to really stand out in a crowd of tartans. So, does double width mean that if you purchase 4 yards you have enough for an 8 yard tank? Or is my thinking skewed? Blueprints I can read, sewing patterns make my brain hurt.

    Yes, 4 yards double wide will make an 8 yard kilt.

    Yes, modulo your hip size: check with your kiltmaker or The Art of Kiltmaking.

    Hey, you're in luck. There are no patterns for kilts!

    Yeah, er, ahem. that does present certain diffucilties, but at least you don't have to read a pattern.
