    Truth be told...
I do, actually, always proper gear when riding.... I'm no newbie to bikes... I am well aware of potential consequences. Although I have ridden in shorts, I don't like the sensation of (silly as it sounds) the air rustling my leg hair... it's annoying to me.

Here in Pennsylvania, it is legal to ride helmetless... However, I do wear a helmet, because I choose to... just as I choose to wear a kilt, when I feel like it, and accessorize it any darn way I please.

If these guys want to wear a kilt while riding, one day out of the year... Good for them! I'd much rather see that, then the daily selfish buttcheeses who feel it's necessary to yak on the cell phone while zipping down the road, 24/7.

Good point, and seeing these guys once a year is better than seeing kids everyday on rice rockets wearing t-shirts, shorts and flip flops thinking their helmets are going to save them breaking every posted speed limit, giving everyone a bad name.

Cool story. Thanks for posing it Al!

Well to each his own I guess, I have to go with acstoon on this one.

I had a bad motorcycle accident in 1991, totaled my bike and myself in a few ways. I always rode in full gear (leather or denim at the very minimum) and thank God I did. I'd not have walked away from it.
I cringe when I see bikers helmet-less or skin exposed. But, we are all grown ups and can make our own choices for our own reasons.
Wanna ride kilted, have at it. Be safe.

I wear a helmet because my wife insists. That has something to do with not wearing one when she got a phone call from a stranger who found me in a ditch telling her the ambulance was on the way... But she doesn't insist on any other safety equipment. I don't know why that is.

I wear a leather jacket, boots, and jeans usually. Although when it gets hot I leave the jacket at home. It's all about YOUR acceptable level of risk. In my case my wife's acceptable level of risk for me...

We're all willing to take a certain amount of chances that something bad will happen no matter what we do. I'd rather risk a kilted motorcycle ride where my own caution, skill and abilities usually have some effect over the outcome rather than chances some take every day.

My $.02...worth almost what you paid for it. I'll get some pics when I get around to riding kilted. I'll probably even wear my helmet!!

This subject seems to come up periodically.

I don't ride (yet) but it does look like fun to me, even if it is insane.

    Regards,
    Rex.
