I just found this photo

The gentleman in the middle is Robert Winter Lord Provost of Glasgow, notice his hose? I think that dispels any of the white/off white only talk.

I'm with O'Neille, this person's opinion is not worth your time. I'm sure the hose looked great and were correct for the occasion.

Which reminds me, I need to get some charcoal gray hose and a pare of oatmeal hose... Some brown Lewis hose at some point.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

[QUOTE=Ted Crocker;536430]Shadow dicing!!
Wonder if this will be the next SWK tartan?
Sorry for the hijack, I just couldn't resist.

I personally wear off white kilt hose as little as possible. I prefer my colored hose and will try to stock up on them. As has been said in other threads, I wouldnt wear white socks with a suit, so why with a kilt and jacket. Maybe its just me, (and I know this doesnt matter) but when I wear the white hose and look in the mirror i feel I look a little bit more like a school girl in uniform Throw on black hose with the same outfit and I feel dead sexy!

As always, I appreciate your input. The two in question are both originally from Scotland and run the Scottish Imports shop here. One fellow is the president of the Scottish Society, who actually fitted me for my new kilt and has dressed thousands of men in kilts over the years. They know I have no Scottish blood in me, so perhaps they want to make sure I don't embarass myself. I try to be as authentic as possible when kilted, and after having read many threads on the subject, I thought I was a-okay. Well, bottom line is, I liked the way it looked so I will most likely continue wearing the colored hose when the mood strikes me.
Regards,
RB

Ok, I found you a couple of threads that deal with this issue of the colored kilt hose. I think there's some really good information in these threads if you want to read them.

I saw plenty more in the search, but these seemed to be fairly new.
Man... I need to update my hose collection with some colored hose. Right now I only have the off white, and I've been putting it off while trying to fight with a jacket conversion situation. It usually works out in my life that all of it will happen at about the same time, though.
