This is what we have learned,.....
I'm kilted and love it. Since my conversion, I have learned many new things. I would like to share. Please keep in mind these are on a personal level, so feel free to add your own.
My wife loves it as a conversation piece for her friends and family. She is very proud of the guy in the "skirt" that she calls sexy.
When people ask me why I wear one I simply tell them "because I can and I love it." Then they ask, "are you scot?" Their eyes widen when I tell them mexicans, blacks, russians and aussies where them too.
Telling people about Mexicans wearing UK's still garners the biggest "What?" look.
I can wear my kilt any where I please, and do. Minus 32 degrees?.....who cares. If I wanna wear it, I do. It is my birth right. Though the car had better be warm. ![Smile](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
Kilt history is far more rich then what I had thought at first. I love history and am proud to know what I know now about guys in "skirts".
My kids admire Dad for wearing such a manly garment, and know the difference between kilts and skirts.
Kilts are in fact the male version of lingerie and battle garment combined.
Older folks are the ones who's jaws hit the floor thinking you're some gay dude.
Kilts warm up anyones day. Great for people to just talk to you, and they typically expect you to be nice about it, which I am. The conversations are great seeing as the day for the random conversation with a stranger vanished in my life time. YA KILTS!!!!
I like it enough to find ways of wearing it everywhere. My local pub now refers to me as the "guy that wears the kilt."
My little boy is adorable in his kilt, and will grow up knowing what its like to have one. I'm honored that I have been able to give that to him.
Owning 3 is not enough.
You cannot stand onto a tailgate without flashing your buddy when your at the bottle depot. (Oh the things you learn not to do in a kilt....)
Theres a few.....
I'd love to hear some of your guys thoughts.
Cheers!!!!!!!

Thanks for the thoughts. I may not wear the kilt on my present job, but I am kilted at all other times. I get many compliments, and the kilt has opened many nice conversations with both genders.

In all my 60 something years of kilt wearing in Scotland, no one, yes, no one has said anything and I mean anything about me wearing the kilt, and I have picked my words very carefully.Perhaps as the kilt is our national dress they consider it absolutely normal.I am not sure I could be bothered to wear the kilt if all this fuss is made of it.

I was asked "are you scottish?" the other day, when I said no the woman asked if I was "wearing it for a laugh". No - I'm wearing my kilt because it's the most comfortable thing I own! She sounded a bit annoyed when I said that. Strange how there's no "Jeans Police" to stop everyone wearing jeans, but the "Kilt Police" don't like non-scots wearing kilt!
However the same night a few people were asking where I got it from (arctic camo kilt from kiltstore) and apparently I have nice legs

Lingerie and battle garment combined? That's a good one.

...and I get that "nice legs" bit (in earnest) too. It seems a strange thing for a girl to say to a guy, but it happens often. Could it have something to do with the fact that I often wear the kilt with sandals (and therefore, no hose)? I have no idea.

Let me share this thread with you.
There are some times when we get a little carried away with our comments and language and forget about this being a family-oriented forum. Just something to think about, OK?
