Sorry, I'll go fix that now. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Who gives a monkeys what other people think. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Let's keep the kilt alive. I have no problem in telling people I enjoy wearing it and I am not going to a function or work in a kilt shop. I was asked in Oban once if I was going to a funeral as she'd never seen a black kilt before.

I love my black one as well, yet have not been asked the funeral question. How did you respond to her?

My wife loves it as a conversation piece for her friends and family. She is very proud of the guy in the "skirt" that she calls sexy.
[Inflated Ego]Hot as I am[/Inflated Ego] I get so much more attention from the ladies now that I no longer wear pants.
When people ask me why I wear one I simply tell them "because I can and I love it." Then they ask, "are you scot?" Their eyes widen when I tell them mexicans, blacks, russians and aussies where them too.
Telling people about Mexicans wearing UK's still garners the biggest "What?" look.
Mentioning that my great grandfather wore a kilt doesn't seem to surprise people until I explain that he was a black guy from Chicago.
Kilts are in fact the male version of lingerie and battle garment combined.
From the battlefield to the bedroom, nothing beats a kilt.
Older folks are the ones who's jaws hit the floor thinking you're some gay dude.
In my experience, it's those in their 40's to 60's. Everyone 70 and over seems to love it, and wants to talk my ear off about some "scotch" people they knew way back when.
Kilts warm up anyones day. Great for people to just talk to you, and they typically expect you to be nice about it, which I am. The conversations are great seeing as the day for the random conversation with a stranger vanished in my life time. YA KILTS!!!!
Yeah, it's funny. The jerks never really get to me, but sometimes I have a lot of trouble smiling and being polite while random strangers try to start a friendly conversation. But it's good for me, as I need to be more social.
I like it enough to find ways of wearing it everywhere. My local pub now refers to me as the "guy that wears the kilt."
I love being my college's official "kilt guy"
My little boy is adorable in his kilt, and will grow up knowing what its like to have one. I'm honored that I have been able to give that to him.
I learned that giving toys and baby clothes will get you five minutes of gratitude. Giving a baby kilt will earn you a lifetime of gratitude.
Amen to that.

My niece says I have "sexy knees".
(I will be a Great Uncle in November).
Locally I'm also "the guy in the kilt".

"The Guy in the Kilt"
People often gossip about "the guy in the kilt," not realizing the word "kilt" travels really well and quickly to the guy wearing one.

OK – Just to add some fodder to the thread, here are some of the things that I have learned in the years that I have been a full timer:
The vast majority of people that I run into have a positive reaction to the kilt.
Negative reactions seem to come from young people who are trying to show off, or from old people who have incorrect stereo types formed in their minds.
It’s always good to know the tartan that you are wearing, but if a little old lady insists that you are wearing the MacWachamacallit clan tartan, don’t argue, she knows that she is right!
I have had more compliments from ladies than from women. More than I ever had when wearing pants!
Be always ready to tell people where they can buy a kilt. Also be ready to tell them the difference between a tank (our word) and a SWK thrifty.
Sure it’s a skirt, who cares what you call it?
Two kilted guys can talk for many minutes about the colors of shirts and hose and flashes that they wear with a particular tartan than any guy in pants could discuss about his jeans and t-shirt!
I have never been accused of cross-dressing, and in my experience there are no more gay gents in kilts than the straight ones.
Kilt appreciation knows no age limit!
Kilts are great conversation starters… Even old fat guys can get propositioned when he is wearing a kilt!
I guess there is a limit to how many kilts are too many, but I haven’t yet reached that limit!
Almost any sport jacket or suit coat can be converted to a kilt jacket.
I have yet to find a social occasion where the properly worn kilt is wrong….. Funerals, weddings, church, soft-ball, boating, BBQ’s, gardening, school, hooky… everything has a kilt that works (for me!)
Having a brown sporran to go with your brown shoes expands your wardrobe.
Kilted guys appreciate a good leather belt or a good sock knife more that the pants crowd!
A solid black kilt does go with a Hawaiian shirt!
A Hawaiian shirt does not go with the Buchanan or Macleod tartan, regardless what anyone says.
A wool tank is not too hot for Southern California, but a lightweight casual 5 yarder is better.
I don't think I ever will wear pants again..... and a sport kilt is perfect for the swimming pool!

Sometime last weekend I ended up in my favorite pub and sat in my usual stool at the bar. A few seats away a woman I barely recognize says, "hey, you wearing your kilt?" and the guy next to her looks at me and says, "oh..you're THAT guy!".
