We're going to TRY to head down as early as we can
Jay will probably wear his new Black Stewart:
and I will likely be in black jeans and one of those celtic screen-print tops, green design. (Unfortunately, left my Anderson tartan skirt in the To Be Drycleaned bin down in Phx.)
Hope we can meet up with everyone!!

Wife, baby (kilted of course) and I made it out there for a while today, but I guess we missed the gathering of the Sonoran Scotsmen as we arrived a bit after the opening ceremonies (had to feed and change the baby) and then could not find any "covered bleachers" to congregate behind. So we were on our own for fish, shrimp and chips and cruising the vendors, band tent, and dancers, and wathcing the pipeband mini-concert. Great time, even though we couldn't keep the little guy out in the heat for too long. Sorry we missed everybody -- again. Another time.

Same here, I was out and about, but didn't meet up with anyone.
It was much nicer than I expected, and I found out that the president of the Games is Clan Robertson!
Also, the Chief of Clan McBain was there. A surprise.

I'm busy processing pics to post right now. I'll have the first batch tonight. We ran into Riverkilt, and some of the Sonoran Scotsmen. I saw Jay, but didn't know who he was. I got a few pictures of Keys competing. We met up at the tail end of the gathering of the Sonoran Scotsmen at Brian's Irish pub later, and had a delightful dinner with Retro Red and his wife at the Raven Cafe.

Met a Few
Here's a pic of Chrome Scholar, Red Raven Studios, Riverkilt, and B.Somm
Only had about an hour there before we had to head up the hill. Ran into Darin (?) and friend on the way out.
Managed to score another Order of the Gael hangar for my Antarctic tartan kilt that hopefully will be en route...and a Gordon kilt pin for my new Gordon kilt.
And, hey, I was there with two ladies as promised. B.Somm and our red haired friend Alene who lives in Prescott and would LOVE to meet a single kilted man in the area...

Aye, that is the Burns check scarf. Think B. Somm hooked you with that a few months ago too.
A proud tartan for sure.

It looks like as many people as I met, I missed even more. Didn't get to see you this time Ron, sorry I missed you. Same for you Prester John, didn't catch a glimpse that I know of, but I did meet with several others.
I ran into Keys of course, since he was throwing on the same field though in a different class. I've got to tell you, he's a great guy and I wish I had more time to have spent with him.
I also ran into Retro Red and his lovely lady, Ayin, and most of the others in that 'Sonoran Scotsmen' pic.
I'll be posting a full write up, but I won 1st place in the B class (never did that before!) and set FIVE personal records at the Games. Part of it was a very forgiving sloped field, but some of it was just hitting my stride and lots and lots of practice paying off. Look for a full post with pics and vids.
