Just go to your local art supply and pick up a few jars of tempera paint in your clan colors and carefully paint the tartan on your naked legs...don't forget to do nice cuffs below the knee and paint on your flashes. Grab a pair of cheap slip on tennis shoes and paint them up to look like ghillie brogues while you're at it.
No muss, no fuss...you'll look great unless it rains.

Those hose are too thin and that don't hold your sgian dhu in place.

For summer wear I usually don a band t-shirt, regular black socks, and Adidas. It's comfortable, and it has a bit of a football hooligan look to it.

I wear the kilt with hose pulled and gartered in 90+F temps. But, you can go without the shin and foot coverings if you want.

100o here! Daytime I wear T-Shirt, Stillwater Thrifty or basic Sportkilt, socks usually up but sometimes scrunched. shoes, but never boots. No sporran around the house, but need it to carry stuff if i go out. No sgian Dhu, or flashes.
Night time I might do boots - depends where I'm going. If casual, then boots, more formal, shoes; (I never wear Ghillies etc. too costumey) Flashes etc. if in the mood.

I usually wear cotton kilts, lightweight boots and soccer or boot socks scrunched down in summer. If you look at the casual photos you'll find members in sandals, and the like.
Best regards,

You know, just wear whatever won't cause you to get heat stroke. I learned that the hard way last summer. Heavyweight wool kilt, wool kilt socks, Jacobite shirt, and 100+ degrees at a Highland fest just don't make good bedfellows in my opinion. SO--- I love my SWK thrifty's, regular socks, and a T shirt. Oh, and a sporran of course, unless I'm taking my camera. My camera bag is big enough for my very limited supply of crap, which consists of wallet, keys, and cell phone. My friends tease me about it being my summer murse- man purse. Wise a**es...
