I sat down to catch up on the forum. I'm wearing my USMC Leatherneck from SWK. Take a look at the Weathered McKenzie. Must be popular, they sell out of it as soon as they get it in. Also, the Deluxe Kilt hanger, far superior to the $3.00 standard. Unfortunately they are out of stock on the deluxe hangers right now. Go ahead and order the "6 Pack", when they get them in. Trust me, you will use all six aventually!

It continues...
Last night I ordered a sporran and flashes from SWK and socks from USAK to go with my nice new first kilt. Both companies have already emailed me this am saying the items are ready to ship!
Just have two questions...
Do I need a belt for a SWK thrifty as there are no belt loops on it?
Can a clan badge be used as a kilt pin or should I get a real kilt pin?

Kilts did not used to have belt loops and many folks don't have them added to their custom kilts, but do wear a belt - the belt helps hide the lack of straps.
You can certainly wear a clan badge as a kilt pin.

I am not a kilt historian, check out Mr. Newsome at the Scottish Tartans Museum for the best information. The belt is a carry over from the great kilt. The great kilt, basically a large blanket, was wrapped around the body and secured by the belt. When the small kilt was designed the belts was incorporated into the kilt design. The interfacing, waist band, straps and buckles all act like a belt. A properly fitted kilt will stay in place without a belt. Even the modern kilts, when properly fitted, do not need a belt.
The straps on the small kilt and modern kilts are more often designed to hold the sporran strap rather than the belt.
Belt, not belt, wide belt, narrow belt these are all normally fashion choices and strictly up to you. There are times, such a formal occasions, when these choices narrow significantly.
Also, be careful thinking about getting more kilts from SWK. I understand that Jerry is working with a physic so that kilts can be put in the mail when desire first enters the mind. They have to work out the difference between dreaming about a new kilt and the comitment to buy. ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
If you see abbreviations, initials or acronyms you do not know the Xmarks FAQ section on abbreviations may help.

hehehehe, yea I'm starting to suspect that myself. Sadly, even though they have the cheapest price they don't have a belt in my size in stock. So far the cheapest in my size I've found has been on ebay, from the UK and its twice as much as SWK
