    I would suggest that he is probably an old soldier, and that he is probably wearing his old military glengarry and kilt.

    Thanks for all of the comments. It is a great picture that I do indeed treasure.

    I have one other photo of the old boy wearing the same Glengarry, but this time in ... gasp ... pants.
