NYC has another Scottish Pub!
Imagine my surprise when, as I was alking down Second Ave last night, I saw a Saltire hanging from the balcony of a pub. I'd seen the pub before, but it never registered as Scottish without the Saltire...

It's "Shoolbred's" on 2nd Ave between 12th and 13th in the East Village. They have some real nice microbrews, a 20+ list of single malts, and the food, while definitely pub grub, is really good!
Great atmosphere...fireplace, big leather chairs, prints of men in kilts on the walls, and Keith, not only are the bathrooms really confortable, they're immaculate!

And this shall be for music, when no one else is near; The fine song for singing, the rare song to hear; That only I remember, that only you admire; Of the broad road that stretches and the roadside fire. (RL Stevenson)

Nice to hear! Unfortunately, the website doesn't give any information, other than hours and location. Is the menu available anywhere online?
Definitely a place to consider for a kilt night

Sadly, no inline menu. I remember deviled eggs, Scottish smoked salmon, a really good burger with GREAT fries, fries with white cheddar...
Definitely a place to start or end a pub crawl; not a place for dinner, but a place to curl up in front of the fire with a bottle of Laphroaig...

June 14th? I know that I won't be available the following Saturday, and the one after that is doubtful.
Hey, it's also Flag Day. What better excuse to celebrate?

Do we really need an excuse?

June 14th is probably out for me...unless we make it a kilted picnic to hear "Tosca" in the Park with the NY Philharmonic...friends are in the cast....
