Leather Kilt Mania
Okay my brown and black leather UKs arrived today and they are quite simply a work of art...
Now my only question is this....I need to adjust the laces on teh side for a better fit...what's the easiest way to do this so I don't ruin them...
When I get that figured out I will have pics to share...

Congratulations looking forward to the pictures.

Congratulations!
What I did, was put the rascal on, then had a buddy adjust them for me. Only took a few moments, and a heck of a lot easier than trying the twisting and adjust method.

Ron (Riverkilt) has experience with this issue. (Its a long-running complaint that UK doesn't provide any instructions about adjusting the laces.) You might also want to look at some of the files posted at http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/utilikilt/ and search the msgs.

Yeah that's the problem that I'm having and I wish I could actually snap the damn thing in place so a friend could help out....I tend to fluctuate between sizes a little so I gotta learn hwo to do it....

Aye....I've come to love that lacing as its grown with me...but dang...Utilikilts has their shyte in a group on most other things but they continue to lace these things up then send them out to folks who've paid big bucks for them with no instructions. Makes absolutely no sense to me and seems totally in opposition with their other business practices.
How they can expect men to know how to adjust corset lacing (that's what it is folks) without instructions is beyond me. How they can shortchange a highend customer such instructions is beyond me.
But, they've remained firm in their evil neglect of instructions for many many years now. They must cackle with every shipment. They had no hesitation to charge me big bucks for shipping my leather UK because they "had to pay someone to take it to the post office and stand in line to get insurance for it"....but they never have had any interest in providing instructions for a complicated lacing system.
Yes...I'm ranting...self-righteously and sad that a company that does so well in other areas continues to leave this neglected. I own one and I've owned 15 other UKs and a kilt wind sock so I am entitled to rant.
CJ, Steve are you listening??? Yeah, you've heard it all before ad nauseum...
Anyway, on to the problem. What I did was sketch the way the lacing went before I messed it up so at least I could recreate it if I had to.
Then I managed to google up a diagram of corset lacing that had adjustment instructions. Sadly, I never saved the website, or if I did it died in the last couple hard drive crashes.
So, my suggestion is, first sketch what you have, then see if you can find anything by Googling up "corset lacing."
And ain't leather kilts great!!??

that sounds like a pain to do. you would think they would put instructions but it seems otherwise. kind of a slap in the face to the customers dont you think?

Congratulations!
I'd take Ron's advice, and draw a picture first. Then I'd go looking for a lass who knows what a bodice is, and plead for help!

I'd like to get a leather kilt, but I can't afford and it ain't the best thing for me right now considering I'm still growning(ish).

C'mon, we all know why there are no instructions.
Any REAL man NEVER reads instructions anyway! ![Hide](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/hide.gif)
