The Gathering 2009
My girlfriend and I are planning to attend. When I first heard about the Gathering, I immediately wanted to go, and plan to travel through Scotland before and after the Gathering dates. We haven't made specific plans yet, but are saving money for the trip.

They're expecting about 8000 aren't they?
So, 4000 men in kilts then.
You think I'd miss that?

I'm planning to be there. Our clan MacCallum Malcolm has signed up. Our Chief is expecting us afterwards for our annual meeting.

Hey Daz,
I'm certain it wasn't you, but some of the worst piping I've heard ever was along the Royal Mile. One goomer in particular almost made my ears bleed, yet tourists were blindly tossing coins in his box.
And in all fairness, I have heard some quite skilled pipers too along that street.
Slainte yall,
steve

I think I am too old for the crowds these days, but I am always delighted to meet up with anyone visiting the the Western end of the Great Glen(Fort William area).

I don't particularly like Edinburgh, much preferring to visit Glasgow. However since I live only 55 miles away I will probably pay a brief visit to the Gathering. If anyone wants to come south of Edinburgh we could perhaps hold a kilt meet in Hawick or Dumfries.

I'm going to be spending part of my trip at Ferintosh (I hope P1M still has my reservation down) So we will have to get together with as many XMarkers as possible!
I'm also hoping to spend a little time traveling around and seeing the sights, so any recommendations of what to see, or avoid, will be appreciated.

My pal Jim and I will definitely be there! I booked the B&B accommodation and applied for our Silver 'Passports' (giving entry to all the events and places in the Clan march up The Royal Mile) last year. A few months ago, I heard that the 'Passports' in our names have been confirmed and that these will be despatched around April 2009.
This has to be the event of next year.
Take care,
Ham.
